Make your donation go further at no extra cost to you.
As a registered charity, we can claim an extra 25% on top of your donation using Gift Aid.
Gift Aid is a government scheme to help charity supporters’ generosity go further. If you’re a UK taxpayer and tick Gift Aid, we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated, at no extra cost to you. This makes a huge difference to us as it helps us reach more animals in desperate need.
Gift Aid on your donated items at our charity shops You can opt in to a separate Gift Aid scheme when you donate items to our charity shops too. This lets us collect 25% more whenever we sell something that you donated. To help us take advantage of Gift Aid, you can sign up to the Retail Gift Aid scheme before dropping off your donations.
Gift Aid FAQs
Q – I’m a pensioner, do I still qualify for Gift Aid?
A – If you have paid enough tax this year to cover the amount we are claiming on your donations then you are still eligible to tick Gift Aid. You may not be covered enough with state pensions alone but if you are still paying tax on a Private Pension, Savings Account or Capital Gains you may still be eligible for Gift Aid. For more information please visit the HMRC Website – Tax relief when you donate to a charity: Gift Aid – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
Q – Will I have to pay anything extra?
A – No and you don’t have to do anything either. We will claim gift Aid from the tax you have already paid. However if you pay less Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on your donations for that tax year, then it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
Q – What if I’ve already signed up for Gift Aid for another charity?
A – You can support as many UK charities as you like. All you need to do is ensure you are paying enough tax during the year to cover the amount charities will reclaim on your annual donations.
