There’s no greater joy than finding your perfect match – especially when it has four legs!
In a new campaign, the RSPCA Isle of Wight is highlighting the life-changing magic of pet adoption by inviting animal lovers across the Island to consider opening their hearts and homes to a rescue pet.
If that’s not possible then the charity is asking for donations to support them to give animals, whether they’ve been abandoned, surrendered, or rescued from challenging situations, the happy ending they deserve.
Poster boy for the campaign is Ted a sparky little bichon frise who came into the branch, shut down, blind in one eye with cataracts, polyps, a severely matted coat, chronic ear infections, allergies, and rotting teeth. After months of specialist and individual care – not to mention lots of love and kindness, the specialist team were able to bring his waggy tail back and find him his perfect forever home.
“Adoption doesn’t just change the life of a pet—it transforms the lives of the people who adopt them,” says Steve Backhouse, Branch Director “Our adopters often tell us how their new pet brought joy, comfort, and purpose into their lives. It’s a perfect mutual rescue.”
And if adoption isn’t right for you at the moment Steve added:
“People often think that we are a big wealthy charity, funded by the national RSPCA, when in fact we receive less than 5% of our funding from them. We are small, local and community funded and we need your help to keep tails wagging across the Island.”
The RSPCA Isle of Wight works tirelessly to provide veterinary care, nourishing food, and a caring haven for animals in need. Each pet is matched thoughtfully with adopters to ensure lifelong bonds. With a focus on community, the organisation not only rehomes animals but also supports owners with ongoing advice and support if needed.
To encourage adoptions and donations and celebrate the incredible impact these animals have, the charity is also asking people to share their adoption stories though social media.
