We provide care and assistance to the animals on the Isle of Wight that require our help. Our service supports professional animal rescue, providing veterinary care, rehabilitation and rehoming or release to the wild. We also promote responsible animal ownership through local educational campaigns.
As an independently registered charity, we rely on the generosity of the local community to support our animal welfare work. All monies raised on the Island, remain on the Island and go to support abandoned, abused, and orphaned domestic, farm and wild animals. Funds are raised through our charity shops, fundraising events, legacies and donations.

The objectives of the Branch are to promote kindness and good care. To prevent or suppress cruelty to animals, through advocacy, education and a commitment to improve animal welfare and support the human-animal bond on the Isle of Wight.
Our facilities
Our Island Animal Centre is set within 23 acres of pasture and woodland in a semi-rural setting in Rookley.
On site we have various outbuildings and properties housing our Kennels, Cattery, Rabbitry, Ferretry and small animal accommodation. There is also an indoor wildlife suite and outdoor spaces including aviaries, and ponds for waterfowl and seabirds. For exercising dogs we have 4 grass runs and for rabbits, a newly built outdoor exercise and enrichment area.
Where required, our animal care facilities are temperature controlled, some with underfloor heating and wall heating to ensure our animals have the best care and are comfortable.

The purpose – built Reception building includes a welcoming reception area, a committee room for dog interactions and for gentle training and introductions to sights, sounds and smells some animals may never have experienced.
All charity administration happens onsite in our offices and we have a new conference room with its own separate facilities.
Both our cattery and dog kennels are equipped with separate veterinary consultation rooms for visiting vets to assess and complete medical exams on all our shelter animals. Although we do not have on-site surgical veterinary facilities we are supported by our local vets who are incredibly accommodating when we have animals in need. All hospital treatments are carried out in the safety of a local veterinary clinic.
