Ever wanted to hold your MP’s feet to the fire?
You will be able to do exactly that on November 8 th when Richard Quigley MP for Isle of
Wight West, takes on the RSPCA Isle of Wight Firewalk. The event has been planned to
raise vital funds for the charity’s work supporting the Island’s most vulnerable animals.
Hosted at the Isle of Wight Railway at Havenstreet, the daring challenge will see participants
walk barefoot across red-hot embers to help raise money for animals in need across the
Island. Funds raised will go directly towards supporting the Island Animal Centre in Godshill
where dogs like Kylo, is waiting for his forever home.
“The Island Animal Centre plays a vital role in protecting and rehoming animals in our
community,” said Richard Quigley MP. “Taking part in the Firewalk is my way of showing
support for the incredible staff and volunteers who work tirelessly every day to help animals
in need. Plus, it’s a great excuse to do something completely mad for a very good cause!”
The RSPCA Isle of Wight is encouraging locals to come along, cheer on the brave
firewalkers, or even take part themselves. Volunteers and fundraisers are always needed to
help the charity continue its essential work providing shelter, rehabilitation, and rehoming for
hundreds of animals each year.
“We’re thrilled that Richard is joining our Firewalk,” said Veronica Chrisp Marketing and
Fundraising Manager, RSPCA Isle of Wight. “His support will help shine a light on the
challenges our centre faces and the animals who rely on us. Every step across those
embers will make a real difference. Constituents needn't worry as we will ensure he is fully
trained before the challenge."
The Firewalk will take place on November 8th at the Isle of Wight Railway in Havenstreet.
