The Value of Legacies
In recent years, legacies have provided around 50% of our income and have supported a mixture of projects large and small:

Cattery Building
The construction of our modern cattery building greatly enhanced our ability to help Island cats in need. Each year we provide care to nearly 150 cats.

Vetinerary Care
Every we spend over £60,000 on vetinerary care. Each animal receives regular checks, vaccinations and neutering, with some requiring specialist treatment and ongoing rehabilitation.

Ryde & Ventnor Shops
Legacies enabled us to purchase our shops in Ventnor and Ryde, giving us rent-free buildings with which to generate future income.

Wildlife Building
A single legacy enabled the construction of a new wildlife building, providing covered facilities to look after large waterfowl, birds and mammals.

Community Support
Our popular welfare clinics promote good animal care and provide practical support to pet owners on the Island. We also support local food banks providing vital pet food to those most in need.

Centre Running Costs
It costs £750,000 per year to run the Island Animal Centre. Legacies help pay for staff, heating, animal food and maintenance, that are essential to the running of the centre.
Giving a legacy
Leaving a gift in your will to the RSPCA Isle of Wight is a powerful and lasting way to support the welfare of animals on the Island.
Create a lasting legacy
By including the RSPCA Isle of Wight in your will, you ensure your compassion for animals continues beyond your lifetime. Your gift becomes a lasting legacy of kindness, helping to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals for years to come.
Support local animal welfare
The RSPCA Isle of Wight is an independent charity that relies almost entirely on local support. Less than 10% of our income comes from the national RSPCA charity. A gift in your will ensure vulnerable animals lwill receive direct care and protection in your community.
Help animals in crisis
Your legacy could fund emergency veterinary care, food, shelter, and vital rehabilitation for animals who’ve suffered cruelty or neglect. It can also support preventative work – educating the public, offering neutering schemes, and promoting responsible pet ownership.
Every gift makes a difference
Whether large or small, every legacy gift is deeply valued. It helps sustain the centre’s daily operations and long-term survival, ensuring no animal is turned away due to lack of funds.
It’s simple and free to do
Including a charitable gift in your will is straightforward and can often be added with a simple update. The RSPCA Isle of Wight can also connect you with free will-writing services or guidance if you need support.
Peace of mind
Knowing your values will live on, and that you’re helping protect future generations of animals, brings peace of mind. It’s a meaningful act of love that your family can be proud of.
