Legacies

By leaving a legacy to RSPCA Isle of Wight, you will support us to fulfil our mission – to ensure that all animals have a good life, by rescuing and caring for those in need, by speaking on their behalf and by inspiring everyone to treat them with compassion and respect.

The value of legacies

Leaving a gift in your will to the RSPCA Isle of Wight is a powerful and lasting way to support the welfare of animals on the Island. Here are several compelling reasons why you might consider giving us your support.

Create a lasting legacy

By including the RSPCA Isle of Wight in your will, you ensure your compassion for animals continues beyond your lifetime. Your gift becomes a lasting legacy of kindness, helping to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals for years to come.

Support local animal welfare

The RSPCA Isle of Wight is an independent charity that relies almost entirely on local support. A gift in your will ensure vulnerable animals like Mabel (see below) will receive direct care and protection in your community.

Help animals in crisis

Your legacy could fund emergency veterinary care, food, shelter, and vital rehabilitation for animals – again like Mabel who features in our campaign – who’ve suffered cruelty or neglect. It can also support preventative work—educating the public, offering neutering schemes, and promoting responsible pet ownership.

Every gift makes a difference

Whether large or small, every legacy gift is deeply valued. It helps sustain the centre’s daily operations and long-term survival, ensuring no animal is turned away due to lack of funds.

It’s simple and free to do

Including a charitable gift in your will is straightforward and can often be added with a simple update. The RSPCA Isle of Wight can also connect you with free will-writing services or guidance if you need support.

Peace of mind

Knowing your values will live on, and that you’re helping protect future generations of animals, brings peace of mind. It’s a meaningful act of love that your family can be proud of.

In recent years, legacies have supported a mixture of projects large and small including:

  • The provision of veterinary care and ongoing treatments to vulnerable dogs, cats and small animals.
  • Providing food, toys and rehabilitation for the animals in our care.
  • Building a new cattery building offering modern, cosy facilities for the many cats seeking their forever home.
  • The construction of a new wildlife area, providing facilities to look after large waterfowl.
  • The purchase of our shops in Ventnor and Ryde, giving us rent-free buildings with which to generate future income

Leaving a legacy to RSPCA Isle of Wight

We’re an independent charity (no 205311), affiliated to the National RSPCA. If you would like your legacy to help animals on the the Isle of Wight, we recommend the following wording in your will:

“I give the sum of £____ (or specify percentage of estate) to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Isle of Wight Branch Registered Charity Number 205311 and I declare that the receipt of the honorary treasurer or other proper officer of the said Branch shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy. In the event of the aforesaid Branch shall no longer exist at the date of my death I give the legacy to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Wilberforce Way Southwater Horsham RH13 9RS (registered charity number 219099) for general purposes.”

In Memory Giving

Honour a life. Help save another.

An In Memoriam donation is a heartfelt way to remember a loved one while supporting animals in need on the Isle of Wight.

Whether you’re commemorating a family member, friend, or devoted pet lover, your gift helps rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals who need urgent care and compassion.

Why Give in Memory?

A lasting tribute
Celebrate the life of someone special by supporting a cause they believed in. An In Memoriam collection is a powerful way to reflect their kindness and love for animals.

Help animals in crisis
Your donation goes directly to our work on the Island—caring for abandoned, neglected, and mistreated animals who rely on us for shelter, veterinary treatment, and the chance of a new beginning.

Comfort and connection
Giving in memory can offer comfort during difficult times, allowing grief to be transformed into a positive legacy that lives on through every animal helped.

Keep vital local services running
As an independent local branch, we rely on the generosity of our community. In Memoriam support helps ensure our services continue for generations to come.
