Volunteer
Volunteers are critical to helping us care for animals in need. Whether you work together with us at our animal centre or gift your time within our charity shops, driving animals to veterinary appointments, taking part in events or educating within the community, together we can make a difference.
When you choose to donate your time you are truly our animal heroes and at the heart of all of our success. Our work never stops and we are always seeking those willing to help us to change animals’ lives forever.
Volunteering is an enjoyable and rewarding way to make a positive change. Whether it’s just a few hours a week or a longer weekly commitment, we are grateful for all the helping hands we receive.
Our busy charity shops are at the hub of our community and generate a much needed income for our animals. We know that they are a great social environment too, enriching the lives of those who roll up their sleeves and help. You don’t need to have any past experience in retail, we will provide all the training and a few laughs along the way. You will also be doing amazing work for the environment by helping us to reduce, reuse and recycle.
We are also in need of volunteers to help muck in and in some cases muck out with our animals. You’ll be alongside our Animal Care Assistants, aiding them with any tasks to support the day to day care of our animals. Direct animal care work is emotionally enriching, it involves a lot of general animal husbandry and may not necessarily be hands-on care yet critical to providing safe, clean and loving environments for homeless animals.
If you wish to provide hands-on animal care and have space in your home, please consider registering for our Foster Care Program
Animal Foster volunteers provide flexible service throughout the year and a temporary safe place for some of our most vulnerable animals to thrive. Often we receive animals that are not ready for adoption, we rely on our dedicated foster volunteers to provide care for them in their own homes. You may foster as often as you are able, this may be every few months or as the need arises, you choose when you can help however there will be a time commitment for each individual animal you support based on the specific needs of the animal. Specific details will be provided once you register your interest.
Do you love community events
We do! And we would love for you to join us around the Island as we set up stalls, promote kindness and engage with our community. You may even be assisting with an event or two in our charity shops or at our animal centre. Bring a friend along and join our event ambassadors, we have something for everyone from setting up and taking down event equipment, connecting with supporters, to making sure watering stations are topped up for passing pooches.

There are no minimum or maximum requirements. You can help us make a difference a few hours a month or a few hours a week. It all depends on how much time you have available and the level of commitment you can afford to give.
