RSPCA Isle of Wight urges Islanders to support vulnerable animals through £3-a-month regular giving
Today, we have launched our Christmas fundraising campaign, Time to give back this Christmas, calling on the community to stand with the Island’s most vulnerable animals during the busiest and most challenging season of the year. As a local charity supporting local pets, all money raised here stays here, directly funding care and rehabilitation at the RSPCA Isle of Wight Animal Centre.
Dogs like Bryony show exactly why our work matters. She was found abandoned in a caravan, left in her own faeces, scared, neglected, and utterly alone. Now safe in our care, Bryony is searching for the loving home she’s always deserved. Her journey mirrors so many others — like the lurcher pup featured in our campaign, discovered with her littermates starving, terrified, and suffering from mange, now happily settled in her forever home.
These are just two of hundreds of animals the centre supports each year — and the reality behind every success story is the growing cost of providing this lifesaving care.
It now costs £750,000 annually to run the RSPCA Isle of Wight Animal Centre. As an independently funded branch, the centre does not receive automatic financial support from national RSPCA funds. It relies almost entirely on local donations, fundraising, and community generosity.
This Christmas, the centre is encouraging Islanders to become Regular Givers, with a suggested donation of just £3 a month. This small but steady contribution helps provide rescued animals with essentials such as:
- nutritious food
- warm bedding
- kindness and care
- vital veterinary care
- rehabilitation and behaviour support
- safe shelter during their recovery
“A regular gift of £3 a month may seem small, but to an animal in need, it can be life-changing,” said Veronica Chrisp, Fundraising Manager at RSPCA Isle of Wight. “Regular givers are so vitally important because they allow us to plan ahead, respond quickly to emergencies, and ensure we are always here for local animals who need us.”
